The Wahoo KICKR ROLLR Now Has New Virtual Riding Functionality, No Power Meter Required

May 01, 2023

If it feels like indoor cycling has gotten super fancy and expensive with all kinds of technology requirements, you’re not alone. But Wahoo wants to change that. With their most recent announcement, their goal is to make indoor cycling for everyone — easy to use, easy to transition from indoor to outdoor riding, and without the unnecessary expensive gadgets.

Wahoo's latest functionality is especially focused on first-time indoor cyclists. The unique design of the Wahoo KICKR ROLLR makes transitioning from outdoor to indoor cycling incredibly fast and easy. All you need to do is secure your bike on the ROLLR, and ride. No need to remove the rear wheel or have a dedicated bike just for the trainer.

Also, instead of relying on an external power meter, the KICKR ROLLR provides controlled resistance in level, ERG, and simulated modes, so users can benefit from the full virtual indoor cycling experience without buying a power meter.

And the KICKR ROLLR now connects easily with Zwift if that's where you get your indoor training fix, and also comes with a free trial subscription to Wahoo X, which gives you access to Wahoo SYSTM and RGT.

According to the company, Wahoo SYSTM offers a sport science based personalized training plan, along with cross-training workouts like yoga, to benefit your all-round fitness while Wahoo RGT is a realistic virtual world where you can ride some of the most famous routes in the world.

While the new functionality makes things simple and accessible, if you do find yourself latching onto indoor cycling, and want to up your game, the KICKR ROLLR is compatible with all kinds of training accessories. Overall, the goal is to help more people get their indoor groove on, without breaking the bank.
